The house hosting Le Case delle Pleiadi was part of a residential complex of two units that belonged to a wealthy family. The first one was the “men’s house” , the official house facing the main street. It had the reception rooms and the offices of the family. The second one , our complex, was the “women’s house” a sort of gynaeceum behind the “men’s house” that protected it from the exterior. In this house the women of the family used to weave and sew and in the garden surrounding the house they used to cultivate the capers. Each of the two house had a separate kitchen, evidence of the mutual independence. Today the houses are separate properties.
